Dog and Cat Grooming ServicesAt Scruffs 2 Crufts we offer a full grooming service for both cats & dogs. During your pets visit to our grooming parlour we do our best to ensure they enjoy the whole grooming experience. At Scruffs to Crufts we also recognise that your dog & cat are a lot more than just a pet, they are also your faithful companion & family member. Our parlour is tiled from floor to ceiling for easy cleaning & disinfecting at the end of every day, plus all the equipment used is sterilized before using on the next pet to eliminate cross infection. Please advise us at the time of booking if your dog or cat has fleas or any medical condition so necessary steps can be taken. At our parlour we have crates that all pets are kept in when they are not being groomed. This is to ensure they can not mix with other pets that are visiting at the same time. As an owner myself I understand how much they mean to you & can assure you that they are well looked after during there visit to our grooming parlour. They are rested when they need to be, offered water & treats. GROOMING DOGS.As an owner it's important that you regularly groom your pet as not only will this help keep their coat cleaner & knot free but also help them feel at ease on their visit to our parlour, so instead of feeling stressed they feel relaxed & enjoy being pampered for their time with us.A regular grooming at home can also become a great bonding experience for you & your dog. Believe me - it works! We use different dog shampoos & conditioners, depending on the type of coat & skin condition your dog has. Depending on the breed we may clip their coat, hand strip or coat king. CLIPPING DOGS.Lots of breeds need to be clipped, how can vary from breed trim to the owners personal choice & what suits their family lives best. Most breeds should be clipped every 6-8 weeks; however this does depend on how quickly your dogs coat grows. Some may be as little as 5 weeks; this again can depend on the amount of grooming they have at home. If groomed regularly at home this can help reduce any unwanted dirt or mats in their coats; - which can lead to a smelly dog. So groom regularly at home, you really do both benefit from this. In the warmer months you may want to clip their coat shorter to help keep them cooler. It does help, it's just like you removing a layer of clothing; as you feel the benefit so do they. HAND STRIPPING.We hand strip breeds that have an undercoat to rotate their coats, this benefits the coat & skin. A stripped coat holds on to the colours better & because it conditions both the coat & skin has a glossy healthy look. When stripping the coat it can be removed by hand or using a special tool. How often this is required depends on the breed of dog & how quickly their coat grows. We also use furminators on some coats; this removes lots of excess coat. CATS.There are so many different breeds around now days & whether long or short haired some cats find it hard to keep themselves clean & knot free. This is where Scruffs 2 Crufts can help. We offer any grooming service your cat may require. Whether that be a regular groom out or if your cat has become quite matted, in some cases we may need to clip their coat with a special trimmer. Some of our feline clients come in for the full groom;- A cleansing bath, dry, groom out, nails clipped & even trimming around the groin area to help keep them nice & fresh for longer.
If your cat is an outside cat it is not advisable to clip their nails. If your cat has become matted & they are very close to the skin it is best to have the mats clipped out as it can be very painful & pull on their skin. Sometimes leaving marks & scabs under their coat & when you touch your cat it can even be quite tender; you may notice they almost wince when you touch them. Cats come in many different temperaments & we treat them all as the individuals they are. Some cats completely enjoy their time at the grooming parlour with us but at the same time some need regular breaks, so it's hard to say how long their visit will be, but I'm sure you will agree your cat's welfare is the most important thing to consider.
